Vilanova i la Geltrú ist eine Küstenstadt etwa 30 km südlich von Barcelona. Sie vereint ein historisches Zentrum mit kleinen Gassen und die natürliche Schönheit der Küste. Hier haben wir ein paar Empfehlungen für Unterkünfte, Cafés und Restaurants sowie Freizeitaktivitäten zusammengestellt.

From the airport | Desdel aeropuerto | Vom Flughafen Coming from the airport, there are three options: taxi, bus, or train. There is a direct bus from the airport (T1 & T2) that takes 1 hour to the main station in Vilanova. There also is a train from T2. One has to change trains once to arrive. Desde el aeropuerto, hay tres opciones: taxi, autobús o tren. Hay un autobús director desde el aeropuerto (T1 y T2) que tarda un hora en llegar a la estación de Vilanova. También hay un tren desde T2, pero es necesario hacre un transbordo para llegar. Vom Flughafen aus gibt es drei Möglichkeiten: Taxi, Bus oder Zug. Es gibt einen direkten Bus vom Flughafen (T1 und T2), der in einer Stunden den Hauptbahnhof von Vilanova erreicht. Es gibt auch einen Zug von T2, bei dem man einmal umsteigen muss, um anzukommen.

From | Desde | Von Barcelona Coming from Barcelona, the best way is to take the direct train. Vilanova is small, so the train station is close to everywhere. Si vienes desde Barcelona, la mejor opción es tomar el tren directo. Vilanova es pequeña, así que la estación de tren está cerca de todo. Wenn ihr aus Barcelona kommt, ist der beste Weg, den direkten Zug zu nehmen. Vilanova ist klein, daher liegt der Bahnhof nah an allem. 

Vilanova has a wealth of hotels and AirBnBs. Below we have a small list of places we stayed at before or that have been recommended to us.

Vilanova offers a wide range of potential activities.

• Vilanova has two beaches. The southern one tends to have more visitors but offers little bars and the Statue of Pasífae.

• There are many hiking trails nearby. Our favorite is hiking along the coastline from Vilanova to Sitges (and back).

• Vilanova has a beautiful historic center that can be explored on foot within an afternoon. As a reward lure a Vermut and Patatas Bravas on the sunny Placa de la Vila.

• When the weather permits, Kayak tours along the coastline start at the beach in Vilanova.

• Vilanova is well connected to nearby tourist attractions including Barcelona, Sitges, and Tarragona. Barcelona is world-renowned for its culture, architecture, and nightlife. Sitges, next to Vilanova, is bustling with tourists in the summer and offers nightlife, a beach, and a historic center. Tarragona is home to ruins from Roman times and a beautiful city in its own right.

• The Costa Brava is a stunning stretch of coastline, known for its crystal-clear waters, charming fishing villages, and rugged cliffs, located about 2h away from Vilanova by car. 

Cafés and breakfast

• L'Espiga d'Or is by far our favorite coffee and pastry place in Vilanova. They have one bakery shop and two cafés in Vilanova. The latter are in the center of Vilanova and offer seating to enjoy a Catalan-style breakfast with a pastry and coffee.

Restaurants

• Cal Purgat could be considered Vilanova's best restaurant. Their Chuletón is a culinary experience for all carnivores.

• Celler 36 offers creative and delicious tapas in a cozy atmosphere.

• Club Nautic is a classy restaurant by the sea offering a wide range of fish and seafood.

Bars

• La Carpeta Moderna is located on the beautiful Placa de la Vila. Apart from Vermut, cerveza, and other drinks, it offers a small food menu including some salads, small dishes, and sandwiches.

• Lotus offers an intimate atmosphere with a rugged look. Perfect for some beers and a sandwich.
